Laser engraving and cutting on leather — precise engraving and cutting for saddlers, small businesses and accessory labels.

For saddlers, leather goods manufacturers and accessory labels, the focus is on individually engraved and precisely cut leather parts — belts with logo imprint, wallets with monogram, key rings with name, pattern pieces according to cut pattern. CAESS Laser engraves and cuts genuine leather and synthetic leather contactlessly, burr-free and from individual pieces — without minimum quantity, with clean edges and permanent engraving effect directly in the material.

Leather that tells a story — permanently burned in, not printed on

The key is the difference between a printed label and a laser engraving directly in the material — in feel, depth effect and durability. The engraving does not fade, does not peel off and changes with the leather: on light natural leather it darkens, on structured leather it highlights the surface. The CO2 laser works contactlessly, without pressure on the material.

Engraving on leather

Logos, monograms and motifs permanently burned into genuine leather and synthetic leather

Laser engraving on leather creates a slightly recessed, permanently readable marking without paint, without film, without subsequent effort. Logos are transferred directly from vector files, lettering and monograms realisable in any font, patterns and surface engravings possible for structured surfaces. Customer-supplied goods are accepted directly.

  • Company logos, monograms and initials
  • Patterns, surface engravings and structured surfaces
  • Dedications, dates and personalised lettering

Cutting on leather

Cut patterns, cuts and die shapes tool-free and precise

Laser cutting on leather delivers clean, burr-free edges without the compression effects that occur with mechanical stamping. Cut patterns from CAD systems are transferred directly as DXF, leather pieces cut precisely from the leather sheet. Less waste, more precise repeatability, no stamping tool for each new shape.

  • Cut patterns and cuts according to DXF or cut sheet
  • Key rings, tabs, straps and shaped parts
  • Optimised material utilisation in series production

Labels & Small business

From personalised individual pieces to small series for accessory labels

Accessory labels and small businesses need a production partner without minimum quantities, without long lead times, without tooling costs for each new variant. Engraving and cutting can be combined in one pass: the leather sheet is first engraved, then cut — one process, one appointment, one point of contact.

  • Individual pieces for end customers and personalised gifts
  • Small series for collections and seasonal editions
  • Combined engraving and cutting pass in one process

What matters technically in this application

PVC leather is not suitable — material check in advance is mandatory

Not every synthetic leather is suitable for the CO2 laser. Leather with PVC coating releases harmful chlorine compounds when laser processed. PU synthetic leather, on the other hand, can be processed without problems. For materials without clear labelling, we carry out a material test in advance.

Engraving depth and tone are material-dependent

Light natural leather produces a dark brown to black engraving with high contrast. Dark or dyed leather shows a lighter brightening effect. The laser parameters are set material-specifically — ideally based on a small test strip from the customer material.

Engraving and cutting in one pass saves time and handling

Anyone who wants to have leather parts engraved and then cut benefits from placing both with the same partner. The laser handles engraving and cutting in the same process — this eliminates handovers, positional inaccuracies and unnecessary handling of sensitive leather parts.

Frequently asked questions

Which types of leather can be engraved and cut with the CO2 laser?

CAESS Laser processes genuine leather (bovine, calf, goat), synthetic leather (PU leather) and cork-leather composite materials. Leather with PVC coating is not suitable for the CO2 laser as it releases harmful chlorine compounds. For uncertain materials, we clarify suitability in advance.

What does a laser engraving on leather look like?

The laser burns a clean, slightly recessed engraving into the leather surface. The colour of the engraving depends on the leather — on light leather it appears dark brown to black, on dark leather as a light contrast. The result is permanent, abrasion-resistant and without paint or films.

Can I send my own leather for engraving or cutting?

Yes. Customer-supplied goods — leather, finished blanks or semi-finished accessories — are accepted as a matter of course. Please make contact in advance so that material suitability, thickness and engraving parameters can be briefly clarified.

Is there a minimum quantity for leather engravings?

No. CAESS Laser works without minimum quantities — from personalised individual pieces to small series for labels and saddlers. Engraving data is archived for recurring orders.

Which file formats are needed for engraving and cutting on leather?

For cuts: vector data in DXF, AI or PDF. For engravings: vector data or high-resolution bitmaps (min. 300 dpi). Logos and lettering as vectors are ideal. For simple motifs, a clear description or sketch is sufficient for a first draft.

Can cut patterns for leather articles be supplied directly as DXF?

Yes. Saddlers and leather goods manufacturers who already work with CAD or cut patterns can supply their DXF data directly. CAESS Laser accepts the file, checks cutting optimisation and material utilisation, and cuts the parts precisely and burr-free.

Request leather project

Let us align material, motif and quantity for your leather project directly.

If leather, blanks, a cut pattern, a DXF file or a logo is already available, technical feasibility and the fastest path to the finished engraving or cut can be assessed immediately. Saddlers, small businesses and accessory labels are equally welcome — individual piece or series. Enquiries are typically answered within 24 hours.
